She’s looking up; her stance is strong and uplifted, like lavender. I named her Lavender Grace... perhaps she could remind you of someone who exemplifies a life of beauty and grace.”

I wanted to express their vibrancy with a gradation of color that builds, starting as limey green, morphing to beautiful coral, tinged with wine. And calla lilies also have a long blooming season… So the qualities of this flower represent supportive, constant friendship. The kind of friend who stays by our side, lifting our spirits through the best and the worst.”

Calla lilies are a symbol of majestic beauty. I chose this flower to represent a pure and simple wish for beauty and peace in our lives…a universal sentiment for so many occasions…birth, marriage, anniversaries, in sympathy and in remembrance. Beautiful wishes are what we send to those we care for and about.”

This figure could be an encouraging and supportive reminder to someone beginning a process, a 'journey'... perhaps moving toward greater well-being and independence; a new career or location; overcoming illness or personal loss... it's a reminder to pause and reflect on the moments—both difficult and joyful—along the path toward achieving goals.

“I wanted to make a figure with her face in the flowers, taking them in with her senses — smelling them, feeling the petals against her face; feeling safe in that surround. So this piece could say to someone that they are loved by those around them… if a person is experiencing difficulty, it could be a reminder of family and friends who support and are there for them. Or it could be a way to say to one special person that all of your love is surrounding them (more of a romantic interpretation)… or just a little gift for someone who loves to garden… I like that people read this piece differently. The choice of red poppies was influenced by trips to France, seeing fields of poppies. The red poppy symbolizes remembrance, so this piece could be a tribute to those who served our country.”
